HOW TO: SCAN AT THE LIBRARY (UBCO)

Option 1: E-mail

  1. Tap on the PaperCutMF icon to log in.
  2. Log in with your Student ID Card by swiping it on the card reader.
  3. Select/tap ‘Device Functions.’
  4. Select/tap on the ‘Scanner’ icon.
  5. You will be asked to ‘Specify a Destination’ which is the e-mail where your scan will be sent to. By default, you can select your Student UBC e-mail which should be displayed already.
  6. Place the document to be scanned on the glass.
  7. Press the green ‘Start’ icon.
  8. Put other documents to be scanned on the glass and press ‘Scan Next Original’, or press ‘Finish Scan’ when done.
  9. You will receive a PDF with your scanned documents on your e-mail within 10 minutes.
  10. Do not forget to log out of the printer when you are finished.

Option 2: USB Drive

  1. Tap on the PaperCutMF icon to log in.
  2. Log in with your Student ID Card by swiping it on the card reader.
  3. Select/tap ‘Device Functions.’
  4. Select/tap ‘Print/Scan (memory storage device).’
  5. Select/tap ‘Scan to Storage Device.’
  6. Insert your USB Drive.
  7. Screen will confirm that the USB storage device was plugged in.
  8. Select your memory storage device (USB).
  9. Select the location to store your file your Memory device (USB). Available space will be displayed above the Start button.
  10. Place the document to be scanned on the glass.
  11. Press the green 'Start' icon.
  12. Put other documents to be scanned on the glass and press ‘Scan Next Original’, or press ‘Finish Scan’ when done.
  13. When you are finished, eject the memory device (USB) by pressing / selecting the Eject Icon at the bottom left side of the screen.
  14. Safely remove the USB / thumb drive by pressing ‘OK’ and ejecting the drive.
  15. Do not forget to log out of the printer when you are finished.

Multiple Documents on Printer

  1. Place ALL documents on overhead tab.
  2. Place documents vertically and face up.

Option 3: EPSON Scanner

  1. Open EPSON Scan application on workstation computer
  2. For Color:
    1. Select Office Mode under the Mode dropdown menu
    2. Select Color option
  3. Place document on Scanner face down
  4. Press Preview/Scan
  5. Choose Location, File Name and Image Format (e.g. .pdf, .jpeg, .tiff, .pct etc.).
  6. Click OK when finished.
  7. When finished, close EPSON Scan and turn OFF Scanner

NOTE: Multiple pages can be scanned in PDF, but not JPEG. If you are scanning multiple pages, click Continue until you have finished scanning

NOTE: If saving to USB memory stick, under Location, choose Other> Browse> My Computer>USB Memory Stick (whichever drive is being used).

Error Handling

NOTE: The scanner may display an error: “Cannot detect original size. Select scan size.” In this case, select the ‘Scan Size’ icon and input your desired scan size manually. Then press Start again.

NOTE: Under Regular, you may select the 8.5 x 11 size in either horizontal or vertical orientation. Other size options are available.
