What do I do if Office 2011 gives an error message that it may not work with my version of OSX.

The Following article describes a possible solution if Mac Office 2011 programs return the following error message. 

 

Microsoft <application_name> cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft <application_name> works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

In brief this issue occurs if the executable for the program in question has been moved or duplicated. Find the appropriate folder for the application and confirm that it is there, moving or deleting the launch icon as necessary. Create a new Dock icon if needed.
