Mac OS X 10.15 Release - October 7th, 2019

Please note Apple has released their latest OS X 10.15 called Catalina.  At this time 10.15 is not fully supported and it is recommended not to upgrade to this version until further testing of all UBC related software and programs

UBCOIT will be testing and confirming all software and applications installed on UBCO supplied devices and once verified we will enable the update feature.

Known Issues

Known UBC related applications that do not work with 10.15 are listed below.  Please note that this list may grow over time as we discover any applications that are not supported at all or do not have a current supported release.

  • Workspace 2.0.  This application is not supported, nor will it be supported, on 10.15.  UBCIT is looking into alternative applications for UBC as a whole but at this time there will be no support for Workspace from the vendor.

  • iClicker Classic.  This application is not supported for the initial release of 10.15 but the vendor expects to have an updated version which will be compatible in the future.

  • 32-bit Applications. One major feature change is that Apple’s OS is now fully 64-bit only and no longer supports 32-bit applications.  This may impact users that have older versions of particular software.  In High Sierra users would have received a notification that the program was not "optimized".  While upgrading to 10.15 a warning window will pop up displaying any application that is not supported and will no longer open.  Upgrade any effected applications by going to the vendor site and finding a supported version.

For any application that is no longer supported and does not have an upgrade available for 10.15 it is recommend to remove the application.

  • iTunes is no more.  The iTunes app has now been split into multiple applications called Music, Podcast and TV.  Apple TV now supports 4K HDR content on 2018 and later Macs.

  •  iPrint may or may not work due to the GateKeeper settings.  We are waiting on iPrint v6.13 for a fix. (hxxps://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7024171)
