MacOS - How do Install UBC Network Printers?

Requirements:

To install/use UBC Network Printers, you must be using a computer that is:

  • Running MacOS 10.15 or greater
  • Supported by ITServices [has an Asset or Service tag]
  • Have a valid CWL and active accounts
  • Connected to the campus wired or wireless network

Installing Printers on MacOS:

Printers can be installed on your UBC Managed MacOS device using Self Service. You can find Self Service within your Applications folder, or searching for Self Service from Spotlight:

Within Self Service, you can search for "Print" and will be presented with the following options and can install either or both depending on your requirements:

 

 



UBCO FAS FindMe Printers

FindMe printers are installed automatically to your Mac and this happens when your device checks in with our management server. You can also manually install/re-install the FindMe printers using Self Service.

Installing the FindMe printer queues onto your Mac will allow you to walk up to any UBC Fleet Printer and release your job via tap-to-release.

The first time you print, you will be prompted to enter your CWL credentials to authenticate to the print system.

NOTE: You can save this password in your keychain to avoid being re-prompted whenever you print.

UBCO FAS Convenience Printer

Installing this printer queue will present you with a dialog box, you will need to fill out the correct information to install your convenience printer.

Enter the exact name of your printer (this will be found on a label on the front of the printer):

Once you have entered your printer name, the printer will be installed:



The first time you print, you will be prompted to enter your CWL credentials to authenticate to the print system.

NOTE: You can save this password in your keychain to avoid being re-prompted whenever you print.

 

Things to note if you are running into issues:

If you make an error when entering the printer name, you will be notified with the following message.

After a moment, you will be able to re-run the UBCO FAS Convenience Printer Installer again and can try again. If unsuccessful, please contact the Service Desk at 250-807-9000 (79000).
